National Space Day CBSE Guidelines: Chandyraan-3 was a huge success for India, as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully landed on the moon's south pole on August 23, 2023. To honour this day, the government of India has declared August 23 as the ‘National Space Day’. This is also known as ‘ISRO Day’ to commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
To celebrate National Space Day 2024 and motivate students to take an interest in science and technology, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notice for all the school authorities affiliated with CBSE. The notice explains the list of activities that can be organised at the school level for students to take part in. Check the ‘X tweet’ from CBSE headquarters below:

National Space Day Activities for Students
As per CBSE, in view of ISRO Day, also known as National Space Day 2024 schools are requested to organise the following activities:
- 10 grade-specific modules on Chandrayaan were launched last year which have been translated into 13 regional languages. These modules may be popularised amongst the students and teachers. The Chandrayaan modules are available at: https://ncert.nic.in/chandrayaan.php
- Special classes/ workshops/ demonstrations/ lectures may be organised in the schools on 22nd/23rd August 2024, on the basis of Chandrayaan modules, ISRO’s space achievements like Aditya, Space Technology etc.
- Bharat on the Moon portal https://bharatonthemoon.ncert.gov.in/ was launched last year. The students may be encouraged to register on the portal and participate in the various activities.
- Quiz and painting competitions may be organised in the school. Eminent personalities may also be invited in the school to engage the students on the theme of Space.

National Space Day Acitivities for Students
Teachers and school authorities can conduct the following activities for students on the ocassion of 1st National Space Day 2024:
Creative Rocket Designing Competition:
A rocket-design competition can be conducted for students to show their creativity and knowledge about a spacecraft and its parts.
Solar System Model Design:
A solar system model competition can be conducted for students to brush up their knowledge of plants and their placement.
Quiz Competition:
A space science quiz competition is the best activity that can be done on National Space Day to educate students and others on Chandrayaan missions and other space topics.
Essay Writing Competition:
Organise an essay competition on Chandrayaan and National Space Day. This will take minimal efforts to conduct the event, and students will get the maximum knowledge from this.
