On 7 June, UPSC uploaded the admit card for the post of Civil Service Exam for Prelims. The admit card will be available till 16 June upto 4 PM. The direct link to download the admit card is given below:

The candidates can get their admit card by visisting the official website and follow the steps given below:

• Go to the official website of UPSC (upsc.gov.in) and click on e - Admit Card: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024
• A new page will be opened (upsconline.nic.in) where you need to click on 'Download' and then 'click here'
• Now, read all the instructions
• Select registration number or roll number and enter date of birth
• Your admit card will appear on your screen
• Check all the details and take the xerox copy of the admit card

If your photo is not clear or the photograph is without your name and date of photograph, will have to bring a photo identity card alongwith two passport size photographs (with their name and date of photograph), one for each session for appearing in the exam.

Students must endur that all the details on the e-admit card including Name, Photograph & the QR Code on their e-Admit Card, are correct. In case of any discrepancy(ies), they may contact UPSC in this regard.

Candidates can wear of normal or simple wrist watches inside the Examination Rooms/ Halls. However, use of watches fitted with any special accessory that might be used as communication device or smart watches is not allowed and candidates are not allowed to take such watches into the Examination Rooms/ Halls.

The exam venue shall be closed 30 minutes before the schedule commencement of the Examination i.e. 09:00 AM for the Forenoon Session and 02:00 PM for the Afternoon Session.

The candidates should bring the print out of the call letter along with the original photo identity Card, whose number is mentioned in the e-Admit Card. Also the hall ticket must be preserved till the declaration of the final results of the Civil Services Examination, 2024.

• Admit Card Application is best suitable on latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox Browsers.

• Do not use mobile or other gadgets for downloading e-ADMITCARD.Preferably use Windows OS on Desktop Machine.

Yes, candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities in the category of blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected-BA) and cerebral palsy will be eligible for compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour of the examination.

The mains exam for all the candidates who will qualify the prelims exam will be held on 20 September acorss the country. The admit card will be issued 1 to 2 weeks before the conduct of the exam.

Those who qualify the prelims exam will be called to appear for the Civil Services Mains Examination. It is a written exam.

Aspirants should note that the name in the Admit Card in some cases, may be abbreviated due to technical reasons. When a candidate download more than one Admit Card from the official website, he/she should use only one of these Admit Card for appearing in the examination and report about the other(s) to the Commission's Office.

You are allowed to appear in the exam six times if you belong to general category. However, there will be relaxation in the number of attempts will for SC/ST/OBC and PwBD category as follow:

• SC and ST - Unlimited
• OBC - 9 seats
• PWD - 09 for GL/EWS/OBC Unlimited for SC/ST

The entry gate in the exam centre will be closed 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the Examination for both sessions. No candidates shall be allowed entry into the Examination Venue after closure of entry.

The exam will be conducted offline. 100 questions will be asked from General Studies Subject and 80 questions on Civil Services Aptitude Test. Negative marking will also be there.

The prelims exam will be conducted for all applicants who have submitted their UPSC Application Form. It is considered to be one of the most difficult in the country as it is not easy to crack.

The important aread to be covered in General Studies are Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Comprehension, Decision making and problem solving, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, General mental ability, 10th class Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) and 10th class level Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.).

The question paper of  Civil Services (Prelim) consists of two sections i.e. GS Paper 1 and GS Paper 2. Both paper will be of 200 marks each. It is mandatory for the students to attend in both the the papers for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he/she does not appear in both the papers of Civil Services (Prelim) Examination.

The language of the question paper will be Hindi and English. The questions paper will not be framed in any other language or regional language of the students.

According to the official notice, "The e-Admit Cards to thee candidates will be available for downloading from the UPSC's website along with eligible candidates of Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination 2024, around one week before the date of Examination"

No, you don't have to worry about the non answered questions. If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the aspirants, there will be no penalty for that question.

Yes, there will be negative marking for incorrect answers. For every question you mark wrong answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

Aspirants will be required to score a minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam and total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be decided by the Commission.

The number of candidates to be selected for the Civil Services Mains Examination will be about twelve to thirteen times the total approximate number of vacancies available for the year 2024 through this Examination.

The marks you score in the prelims exam are important to determine the status of admission in the mains exam. However, the marks obtained in pre exam by the candidates who are declared qualified for the mains exam will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
