Olly Stone Named as Mark Wood’s Pace Replacement for Lord’s Test
The news from the England camp is that Olly Stone has been added to the team as a replacement for the unavailable Mark Wood for the Lord’s Test match against Sri Lanka. On one occasion, Stone said he bowls at an express pace and will replace Wood who sustained a side strain in the first test match.
They said that Stone who has featured in 3 Tests, 8 one day internationals and 1 T20 international for England will be eager to show off his raw speed. He has been recorded taking over 94 mph and is considered the perfect replacement for Wood in the England bowling line-up.
An earlier blow this year saw Olly Stone fail to feature in The Hundred competition mainly on account of a hamstring injury. The England fast bowler was not disheartened about the situation that eventually ruled him out of the series and still hoped that he would play his part in the one-day World Cup defence later in the year.
Stone has not been free from injury woes in his playing days he twisted his knee in a celebration after taking a wicket in the year 2016 and faced season-ending surgeries. He will be looking forward to avoiding this misfortune and getting back into fitness for the next internationals.
