The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed university for higher education and research in Science, Engineering, Design and Management, located in Bangalore, Karnataka. Established in 1909 and is locally known as the “Tata Institute”. IISc Bangalore is recognised by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with ‘A’ Grade. Ranked at 1st position in the university category and 2nd in the overall category as per NIRF rankings 2023. As per the QS World University Rankings 2023, IISc Bangalore is ranked at the 155th position.
IISc Bangalore offers course admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. The admissions are done on the basis of scores obtained in entrance examinations such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET UG, IIT JAM, CEED and GATE. IISc Bangalore Ph.D admission is based on scores obtained in previous degree, entrance exam and performance in the personal interview. Candidates must register and appear for the respective entrance examination and obtain a valid score to fulfil the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore selection criteria to be eligible for admission. Further, the shortlisted candidates will be called for written test, counselling process and interview round as per the respective course. The selected candidates are required to submit the documents and pay the fees for the IISc Bangalore admission process.
